Jett is Housebroken!

You read it here first!  My little Jett-ster is 100% housebroken!  No accidents in a week!

I mentioned previously that he was letting me know when he needed to go out, but that he was still running back inside to poop...well we've completely changed that behavior and he now does all his business outside!  No questions asked!

In honor of my little peanut, here's video of how adorable he is.  First part is him bugging Tippy to play (just before this they were running around like maniacs together).  Second part he came in with a tiny stick to chew on.

Tippy, Ruthie, & Jett

I don't have too much to say today, but I wanted to get a quick blog in since I've been slacking lately.

Tippy is still my sweetheart.  Yesterday I had gone grocery shopping and while I was going back and forth to bring in my bags he managed to sneak out.  As soon as I noticed I called him back and he came right back in for me.  I wouldn't recommend letting him out unleashed, but it's good to know that he did listen immediately when I called him back.

Ruthie is still my wild child.  I just cannot believe how much energy this girl has!  I did let her sleep with me 2 times last week, and she did so well both times.  Not a peep, not a mover...she found a comfy spot and stayed there all night.

Jett is becoming more and more one of my favorites.  He just recently discovered that it's safe to go in the basement with me (normally it's gated unless I'm down there).  If I close the gate and don't let him come down with me, he jumps up and leans on it until I come back up and pet him.  He is also getting SO MUCH better at housebreaking.  I think we've nearly got it figured out.  I also want to share these pictures that I find hilarious.  I've been tiling my bedroom floor, and obviously don't let the dogs in when I'm in there...so Jett runs out to the deck where he can see in through the sun porch.  This is him jumping up and down trying to get my attention (sorry for the poor quality, he wasn't exactly posing for me).  Bonus Ruthie peeking in and Tippy in the background.

Tippy, Ruthie, & Jett

Sorry for the lack of posts lately.  I've been redoing the floors in 2 rooms of my house and it's really cramping my style (literally and figuratively).  Note to anyone planning on redoing 2 rooms in their house at the same time: don't.  Definitely not 2 important rooms (master bdrm and living room).  Doing the master also has the unfortunate effect of using up the dog room too (all my bdrm furniture had to go out there), so poor Ruthie and Jett don't get their daytime play space right now.  Hopefully both rooms will be finished by this weekend, so we can all get back to our normal routines.

Yesterday Tippy met a potential family.  Does anyone remember Zuzu (formerly Queeniy)?  Well, her family was looking for another little one, and thought Tippy might be a fit.  Zuzu was one of the first fosters I had, and to this day is one of my favorite fosters.  It was so nice to see her again.  She obviously didn't remember me, but I take that as a good sign that her new family loves her enough that she doesn't need to think about me!  Anyway, long story short, they decided Tippy wasn't the right fit for their family, so that's good news for me all of you!

So, Tippy was the initial dog of interest, but they met all 3 of the fosters (plus Hardy, plus one of the bulldogs I was babysitting managed to sneak out of the door when I opened it).  Tippy did growl when he first met Zuzu.  I don't think it was aggressive, as his tail was wagging at the same time, and he wasn't baring his teeth.  I don't recall him doing that when I introduced him to Hardy, Ruthie, or Jett, so I'm going to have to keep observing to see if it was a one time thing or if it's just his way of meeting new dogs.  By the time Zuzu left, they were no longer growling at each other.

Jett was so excited to meet a new dog.  The puppy in him was out in full force and he just wanted to play with Zuzu!  She didn't seem to get angry with him, but she very clearly was not wanting to play.  Jett didn't get the hint, however.

Ruthie surprised me a bit meeting Zuzu.  She ran out the door (as I expected her to do), sniffed her for a minute, then immediately got rough.  That is sometimes her play style, so I don't know if she just thought she was playing or if she was trying to protect her territory (she hasn't been around other small, female dogs while I've had her).  But either way I scooped her up right away and put her back in the house as she was obviously not the right fit for Zuzu's family.  This is definitely something I need to explore further.

Prior to meeting Zuzu, I gave all the dogs baths.  Tippy first, then Jett and Ruthie together (it was supposed to be one at a time, but Jett was so sad that I didn't pick him second so I just decided to get it over with).  Here's a cute video of them all getting blow-dried after their baths.  Ruthie loves it...Jett and Tippy were terrified.  I suggest you turn down your volume to watch this...the dryer is pretty loud.

Playful Creatures

Jett was feeling extra playful last night, so he was running from one doorway to the other just taunting Ruthie and Tippy.  I only caught the tail end of this, but it was very cute.  Please note: the only dog growling in this video is my Hardy (because he's a grumpy old man who doesn't like anyone else to have fun).  You do see Ruthie calm him down at the end though.

Jett

The pictures of Chester straddling the couch arm yesterday reminded me that I took a picture of Jett doing the same thing.  I thought it was so weird!  But now it's doubly weird that another dog does it too!

All my dogs love sitting on the back of the couch to look out the window, unfortunately for Jett he doesn't quite have the balance to sit up there like a normal dog (he falls off the back at least once a day).  So I think this is his way of sitting up there without falling.  Such a goofball!

In other Jett news: he is almost housebroken.  We are not quite at 100%, but he's really trying.  We're down to about 1 accident every other day.  And it's probably my fault, because he always does it when I'm busy doing something else and not paying attention to him.
