Ew! Ew! Ew!

There will be no pictures in this post (see title for reasons).

I think I mentioned in Owen's intro post that when he was at his former foster home he chased down and caught a squirrel.  Well, I don't think that's the situation that happened here...but here's the story:

I came home from work and let the dogs outside.  It was cold out, so I shut the door and called my dad.  While I was on the phone with him, I opened the door to check on the dogs.  They all ran in (it was cold out!).  I shut the door - still on the phone - and turned around to find a dead mouse at my feet, with Owen sitting there looking at me so proud of himself.  I know it was supposed to be a gift, but EW!  Of course I squealed.  My dad's still on the phone laughing at me.  I quickly grab the broom and dustpan to sweep it up and toss it outside.

In my frenzy, it didn't occur to me NOT to throw it in the backyard, so that's what I did.  I saw it leave the dustpan in slow motion.  In my head I did that "NOOOOOOOOO!" that you see in movies.  Immediately I knew that I would see that mouse again.  Sure enough, the next morning when I was getting the dogs back in, I could see the mouse in Ruthie's mouth from a mile away.  My first reaction was to slam the door before she got inside with it, but I caught myself and let her in (mouse included).  Scooped it up again, but was a little smarter and tossed it into the front yard this time.

So that's my exciting story for the week!  I really don't think Owen caught this one, I'm guessing he found it dead.  But if you have a rodent problem in your house, I highly recommend him!
