Tippy, Ruthie, & Jett

Sorry for the lack of posts lately.  I've been redoing the floors in 2 rooms of my house and it's really cramping my style (literally and figuratively).  Note to anyone planning on redoing 2 rooms in their house at the same time: don't.  Definitely not 2 important rooms (master bdrm and living room).  Doing the master also has the unfortunate effect of using up the dog room too (all my bdrm furniture had to go out there), so poor Ruthie and Jett don't get their daytime play space right now.  Hopefully both rooms will be finished by this weekend, so we can all get back to our normal routines.

Yesterday Tippy met a potential family.  Does anyone remember Zuzu (formerly Queeniy)?  Well, her family was looking for another little one, and thought Tippy might be a fit.  Zuzu was one of the first fosters I had, and to this day is one of my favorite fosters.  It was so nice to see her again.  She obviously didn't remember me, but I take that as a good sign that her new family loves her enough that she doesn't need to think about me!  Anyway, long story short, they decided Tippy wasn't the right fit for their family, so that's good news for me all of you!

So, Tippy was the initial dog of interest, but they met all 3 of the fosters (plus Hardy, plus one of the bulldogs I was babysitting managed to sneak out of the door when I opened it).  Tippy did growl when he first met Zuzu.  I don't think it was aggressive, as his tail was wagging at the same time, and he wasn't baring his teeth.  I don't recall him doing that when I introduced him to Hardy, Ruthie, or Jett, so I'm going to have to keep observing to see if it was a one time thing or if it's just his way of meeting new dogs.  By the time Zuzu left, they were no longer growling at each other.

Jett was so excited to meet a new dog.  The puppy in him was out in full force and he just wanted to play with Zuzu!  She didn't seem to get angry with him, but she very clearly was not wanting to play.  Jett didn't get the hint, however.

Ruthie surprised me a bit meeting Zuzu.  She ran out the door (as I expected her to do), sniffed her for a minute, then immediately got rough.  That is sometimes her play style, so I don't know if she just thought she was playing or if she was trying to protect her territory (she hasn't been around other small, female dogs while I've had her).  But either way I scooped her up right away and put her back in the house as she was obviously not the right fit for Zuzu's family.  This is definitely something I need to explore further.

Prior to meeting Zuzu, I gave all the dogs baths.  Tippy first, then Jett and Ruthie together (it was supposed to be one at a time, but Jett was so sad that I didn't pick him second so I just decided to get it over with).  Here's a cute video of them all getting blow-dried after their baths.  Ruthie loves it...Jett and Tippy were terrified.  I suggest you turn down your volume to watch this...the dryer is pretty loud.
