First Trip to the Dog Park

Ruthie and Owen got to go to the dog park this weekend!  It was their first time there, and we were all excited!

Owen peed on everything.

 Unfortunately, there were no other dogs in the small dog area.  There were some bigger dogs over in the big dog area, but I wasn't ready to let Ruthie and Owen out of my sight for that long.  So we just hung out in the small dog area for a little while.

It was a little chilly, a little muddy, and very wet.  Ruthie wanted to sit on my lap, so every time I sat down she would jump up.  Her paws were cold and wet, so I kept kicking her off.  Eventually I ended up just standing.

The dogs explored most of the area.  There were a lot of new smells for them.  They also said hello to every dog that passed us from the parking lot to the big dog area.  Owen peed on every irregularity in the ground (bench, tree, garbage can, pile of snow, etc.).  They really had a good time.

After about half an hour, either Ruthie and Owen were too cold or just bored, so they just came by me and sat down.  So we left sooner than I was expecting.  Hopefully next time there will be some other small dogs so they can play and we can stay longer!

Owen was being so cute last night.  And boy did I need it.  My home wifi has been awful lately, so I bought some new gadgets to try to fix it, and last night was set-up night.  Let's just say it did not go well.  But while I was in the office, Owen decided to bring in a ball and play fetch with himself until I noticed.  So I have 2 short videos of him playing.  Many apologies for the lack of a visual in the 2nd video...I can't swivel as fast as he scoots!

It's Spring!

Thank heaven for nice weather, am I right?  This week I shut my heat off and I've had the door open so the dogs can come and go as they please.  They all love it, but Owen is the one who loves it the most.  Not even treats can get him inside this week.  (That's not completely true, but I have had to get higher value treats.  My normal training treats weren't worth it anymore!)

Yesterday I took a day off work so I could be home to accept delivery of my new couches and to meet a guy about putting up a proper fence (yay!).  Couches arrived at the beginning of the 4 hour delivery window...when does that happen!??!  The dogs and I all love them already.  They are reclining couches, and the sound of the click when I open and close it scares them, but I think they'll get used to it in no time.  The big plus was that they were all so excited about new stuff that they didn't all have to be on me last night!  There were moments (brief as they were) that they spread out and gave me my own space.  It was nice!  Unfortunately the fence guy never showed.  Didn't even call.  What a jerk!  Ah well, I wasn't quite ready to put the money down on a fence anyway.  So I'm not too upset.

Yesterday afternoon the pups and I took a trip to Julie's house to get some good photos for their petfinder profiles.  She did an amazing job, so I recommend you all check out their profiles to see the great new pictures!  I also updated their definitive guides here with some of the photos that didn't make the petfinder cut.
